Following a career as a respiratory therapist, Shawna served as an ethics consultant for the University of Missouri Center for Health Ethics. She then became the Associate Executive Director for the American Association for Respiratory Care before becoming the Associate Executive Director, Programs, at the American Epilepsy Society. Dr. Strickland is also adjunct faculty at Rush University.
