According to recent studies from the American Medical Association and Medscape, physicians and other healthcare professionals who have worked tirelessly on the COVID-19 frontlines are experiencing burnout.

Healthcare workers are not alone.

A February 2021 Kaiser Family Foundation study found that anxiety and depression has increased from 1 in 10 Americans in 2019 to 4 in 10 in 2020. Association executives are not exempt. Many of us and our members are still struggling with burnout and stress as we emerge from the post-COVID-19 world.

Join moderator @Carmen Elliott, MS, CAE Executive Director, American Physical Therapy Fund; Vice President, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the American Physical Therapy Association; and Immediate Past Chair of ASAE’s Healthcare Community Advisory Committee (HCAC), HCAC members @Teshera Hull, Manager, Preceptorship, Coaching and Retooling, American College of Surgeons, and @Maureen Markey, CAE, MBA Director of Membership & Marketing, The Gerontological Society of America as they discuss the ramifications of burnout. Carmen, Teshera, and Maureen will share resources, examples, and tips on what association executives can do to extinguish these burnout fires.

About the Panelists

As an education administrator and digital marketing expert, Teshera is an association leader at the American College of Surgeons. For 12 years she was the Professional Education/Market Development Manager, Global Education Solutions at Johnson & Johnson. She has conceptualized, developed and implemented adult learning programs virtually and in person.

As the Director of Membership & Marketing at The Gerontological Society of America, Maureen is a marketing and communications professional with a history of sales growth in associations as well as consumer products. In addition to her position with GSA, Maureen is the president of the board of directors of the American Association for Safe Patient Handling and Movement..
